    • Scuff marks

    1. PaintNuts - Grey Primer Touch Up Pen

    • Developed to be used as the base coat for our colour matched paints.
    • The touch up primer also comes with a super fine detailing brush.
    • The anti-corrosive primer is recommended to help with the adhesion of the paint as well as bring the damage back to the level of the original paintwork.

    2. PaintNuts - Colour Matched Touch Up Pen

    • Our precision touch-up pens are colour matched to your vehicles original paint code.
    • The touch-up pens come with an ultra-fine needle point pen tip for application as well as a super fine brush on the inside of the paint pen.

    3. PaintNuts - Clear Lacquer Touch Up Pen

    • PaintNuts professional quality precision clear lacquer touch-up pens provide a high gloss clear protective coating.
    • This is the final stage of the touch up process, and the lacquer will help to give your touch up the same finish as the existing paint work and bring out the colour, especially for metallics and pearlescent paints.
  • Directions for use

STEP ONE - PaintNuts - Grey Primer Touch Up Pen

    • Mixing - Shake pen thoroughly for at least 1 minute to ensure the primer is mixed correctly.
    • Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed. If rust is present we suggest a rust treatment as well.
    • Application - Using either pen or brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; if you’re using the needle point pen allow the nib to sit inside the scratch or chip and squeeze gently ensuring you only apply the primer within the damaged area. Leave the primer to dry for upto 30 minutes before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Colour Matched Touch Up Pen.

STEP TWO - PaintNuts - Colour Matched Touch Up Pen

    • Mixing & Colour Check - Shake the Paint Pen for at least 3 Minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed correctly (if your paint is a Metallic Paint, you may notice the paint has separated within the bottle, this paint will need a vigourous shake, then test in a discreet area to check the colour match leaving the paint to dry for 10 minutes – paints will often appear different in colour inside the bottle, when wet or if applied incorrectly.
    • Preparation - The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed.
    • Application - Using either the metal nib/pen or brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; if you’re using the needle point pen allow the nib to sit inside the scratch or chip and squeeze gently ensuring you only apply the paint within the damaged area. Do Not apply new paint on top of existing paint as this will leave the area of repair looking lighter or darker. Leave the colour matched paint to dry for upto 30 mins before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 full hour before applying the PaintNuts Clear Lacquer.

STEP THREE - PaintNuts - Clear Lacquer Touch Up Pen

  • How to apply

    How To Use The Pen

    Prepare and Clean

    Prepare and Clean
    1
The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and grease is removed. For best results use PaintNuts Panel Wipe and a Degreasing Cloth.

If you have a deep scratch or chip OR if you can see bare metal or plastic, we recommend using PaintNuts Primer first - if rust is present, we suggest our Rust Convertor as well.
    PLEASE NOTE
Cold, damp weather can adversely affect the application, finish, and drying time of paints.

    Shake and Test

    Shake and Test<h1></h1>
    2
Shake the Paint Pen for 2-3 Minutes to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed.

If your paint is metallic or pearlescent, you may notice it has separated within the bottle - this paint will need a vigorous shake, even leave it upside down for 5 minutes first.
    3
There are two ways to use the 20ml touch up paint. The high precision needle like pen is inside the clear lid (with a red protective tip that stays inside the lid) – a firm pull will access this.

The small fine brush is within the paint – just unscrew at the white collar anticlockwise to access this.
    4
Test a small amount of paint within the damaged area to check the colour match – give it 15 minutes to dry as paints can often appear different in colour; inside the bottle, when still wet or if applied incorrectly or onto original undamaged paint work.

    Paint and Finish

    Paint and Finish
    5
With either pen or brush apply thin, light coats in smooth strokes; ensuring you only apply the paint within the damaged area.

If you’re using the needle point pen allow the nib to sit inside the scratch or chip and squeeze gently. If new paint goes outside of the damaged area and on top of existing paint it will leave the area of repair looking darker or a higher level to the original bodywork.
    6
Leave the paint to dry for 15 minutes before applying any further coats, if no further coat is required, then leave to cure for 1 hour before applying the PaintNuts Clear Lacquer.

FAQs

If you need additional assistance on a query not answered below, please email customer support at [email protected].

Do I need to use a primer and lacquer?

A primer is only required if your chip or scratch goes down to the metal and if any rust is present. A lacquer is recommended in most instances – especially with metallic paints. It should be applied 24 hours after the coloured coat and will give a perfect finish.

How do I get the touch up to look its best?

The key to applying a successful touch up is smooth, light strokes and building up layers to the original paintwork level - leave to dry for 10-25 minutes between coats or 24 hours before lacquer. See our guide on using touch-up pens.

Can you mix pearlescent paints?

Most modern paints are metallic and many are pearlescent - and we can mix 99% of pearlescent paint codes. However, there are a few tri-colour mixes that cannot be matched. Search for your paint code using your reg number.
