How to use Kia touch-up paint? (FAQ)
How to use the Kia touch-up paint pen?
We’ve designed our Kia touch-up paint pen for easy application to scratched bodywork. To repair a scratch using our Kia touch-up paint pen, follow these steps:
- Clean and dry your Kia’s paintwork.
- After drying and using a Microfibre cloth, wipe the paintwork. This removes any dust that can ruin the touch-up repair.
- Thoroughly mix the paint in your touch-up pen by shaking it for 60 seconds.
- Gently squeeze the paint over the repair area to apply the first layer.
- Wait 10-25 minutes for the paint to dry, before applying the second coat if needed. You may need several paint coats depending on the damage.
- This step is optional. Add a polishing compound like PaintNuts Scratch & Scuff Remover or lacquer to finish the repair.
How to use the Kia touch-up bottle & brush?
Ideal for touching up paint chips, scuffs and scratches, our Kia touch-up bottle & brush is simple and easy to use. To touch-up your Kia scuff, scratch or chip, see the following steps:
- Check the damaged area for rough patches using your hand. If it needs smoothing out, then do so with sandpaper. If metal or rust shows in the scratch, you should apply primer at this stage.
- Ensure the paint in the touch-up bottle is thoroughly mixed by shaking it for 2-3 minutes.
- Check the paint matches your bodywork by brushing a small amount of paint onto a surface that isn’t your car.
- Apply the first touch-up paint layer to the damaged area. You may need to add more than one paint coat, in which case, wait 10-25 minutes between coats for drying.
- When you’ve applied the final paint layer, leave it to cure for 1 hour.
- If needed and to finish, polish with PaintNuts Scratch and Scuff Remover, or add lacquer.

South Korean automotive manufacturer Kia is the country’s second largest car manufacturer. Founded in 1944 as a producer of steel tubing and bicycle parts, Kia dabbled in several industries before settling with manufacturing cars in 1974. After a hiatus from producing cars in the first half of the 1980s, Kia returned to the scene in partnership with Ford in 1986.
Now owned by Hyundai Motor Company since the 90s, Kia focuses primarily on selling cars to the European market and produces a range of popular models such as the Picanto, Sportage and Sorento.
