Mercedes C Class over the years
First gracing our roads in 1993, the Mercedes C-Class was the smallest offering Mercedes had until the arrival of the A-Class in 1997. The first generation of the C-Class was with us until the millennium. The car was the first of the Mercedes lineup to have a 5-speed automatic transmission.
It was also designed with comfort and performance in mind and had safety features like airbags, anti-locking braking systems (ABS), and seatbelt pre-tensioners. In terms of paint colours, the C-Class entered the scene with several options. These included the crisp Arctic White, the striking Imperial Red, and the subtle but distinct Malachite Green.
Come the millennium, Mercedes released the second generation of the C-Class. This time, the C-Class had a more elegant and streamlined appearance - quite far removed from the oblong appearance of the first generation. Mercedes also offered buyers a number of engine updates, including a thundering 5.5L V8. Throughout its seven-year reign, paint colours for the second generation included Capri Blue, Bordeaux Rot, Arctic White and Pewter Silver.
With a focus on driving experience and keeping up with the times, the third generation of the Mercedes C-Class offered motorists a modern exterior design with a luxurious interior. Released to motorists in 2007, this generation of the C-Class was also better for the environment, with improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. There were a variety of Mercedes paint colours for this generation, which included Steel Grey, Mars Rot, Diamant Weiss and Iridium Silver.
Mercedes released the fourth generation C-Class in 2015, which remained available to buy new until 2021. The interior was even more luxurious and also came with a turbocharged engine and a lighter bodyshell to improve performance. The paint colours for this generation included Polar White, Brilliant Blue and Obsidian Schwarz.
