How do I use Toyota touch-up paint?
How you use your PaintNuts Toyota touch-up paint pen depends on whether you use it as a touch-up paint pen, bottle and brush, or car spray paint. Follow the below guidance for information on how to use each:
Toyota Touch-Up Paint Pen
- Make sure the surface of your Toyota paintwork is clean and dry.
- Shake the touch-up paint pen for 60 seconds to mix it thoroughly.
- Apply the paint to the scratch in thin, even layers.
- If applying more than one layer, wait 10-25 minutes between paint coats.
- Once you have applied the final layer of paint, leave it to cure for 24 hours.
- To finish, add polish or lacquer to the area.
Toyota Touch-Up Bottle & Brush
Begin by cleaning the surface of the area you’re about to touch up. You should also smooth the surface with sandpaper and apply primer if needed. Next, shake the touch-up bottle for 2-3 minutes to ensure the paint is mixed thoroughly. Test the colour of the touch-up paint by applying a small amount to a piece of card or similar material and comparing the colour to the existing car paintwork.
If the paint matches, apply it in thin coats and leave 10-15 minutes between applications. After the final layer, leave the paint to cure for 24 hours before polishing or adding lacquer if needed.
Toyota Touch-Up Spray Paint
- Clean the surface of your paintwork and make sure it’s smooth. If it's rough, you can smooth the area using sandpaper.
- Mix the PaintNuts touch-up aerosol by shaking it for 2-3 minutes.
- Apply a small amount to a piece of card or other surface that’s not your car and compare.
- If the colour matches, spray the paint from 25cm away and spray in smooth, even cross-coats.
- Allow 10-25 minutes between each coat, applying as many coats as necessary.
- After the final coat, wait 24 hours for it to dry and add lacquer if needed.
- Finish by spraying the aerosol upside down to clean it after use.
