How do I remove a paint scratch from my Ford?
Removing a paint scratch from your Ford can be done in 4 easy steps:
- First, clean the scratch area and then wait for it to dry.
- Next, apply a polishing compound like PaintNuts Scratch & Scuff remover with a Microfibre cloth, making sure to apply only a small amount at a time.
- If you find the scratch is still there after applying the polishing compound, use the colour-matched touch-up pen to apply thin layers of paint to the scratch. You should allow each paint layer to dry for 25 minutes.
- Leave the final layer to cure for 24 hours. Then, finish it with lacquer and polish to blend in the new paint with the rest of the paintwork.

How do I apply Ford touch-up paint?
Our Ford colour-matched paint is available as a touch-up paint pen, bottle and brush or as car spray paint. The form that your Ford touch-up paint comes in will determine how you apply it.
Ford Touch-Up Pen
Clean and dry the surface, shake the touch-up pen for 60 seconds, and apply thin coats of paint to the scratch. Allow 10-25 minutes between applying additional coats and 24 hours to cure before polishing.
Ford Touch-Up Bottle & Brush
First, smooth the surface with sandpaper, clean it, and then apply primer if needed. Shake the touch-up bottle for 2-3 minutes and test the colour. If the colour matches your Ford, apply the paint in thin layers, allowing each coat to dry for 15 minutes. After the final paint coat, leave it to cure for 1 hour before polishing or adding lacquer.
Ford Touch-Up Spray Paint
Before you use your touch-up aerosol, first smooth and clean the surface of your paintwork. Then, shake the aerosol for 2-3 minutes and spray a small amount on a piece of card to check the colour of the spray paint. If the colour is correct, apply the spray paint in smooth, cross-coats from 250mm away, allowing 15 minutes between coats. If you’re using lacquer, wait 24 hours after the final coat before using. To clean the nozzle of your aerosol after use, spray it upside-down.
