VW Volkswagen Colour Match Car Touch Up Paint

PaintNuts can mix original VW paint colours using the latest colour match technology as either car paint touch up pens, pots or aerosols.

Founded back in 1937, Volkswagen’s purpose was to produce an affordable car for the masses. Under Ferdinand Porsche, Volkswagen released its answer to the task it was given - the Volkswagen Beetle

Halting production for civilian vehicles at the start of World War II, and then resuming under supervision of the British Army after the end of the war, Volkswagen became an iconic symbol of post-war Germany. To this day, Volkswagen has retained that iconic status and continues to produce affordable, contemporary and well-engineered cars for the world over.

We have the full range of VW paint codes in our catalogues for all models of VW, including the Volkswagen Polo, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Touareg, Volkswagen Transporter and more. All of our Volkswagen car touch up paints are custom mixed to order.

VW paint codes and colours are shared with Audi – Some of the Volkswagen paint codes we can mix are A7W Reflex Silver, Y3D Tornado Red, I7F Urano Grey and B9A Candy White

Simply select your exact VW paint code or colour name below, then the size of paint you require, and we will do the rest.

How to use Volkswagen touch-up paint?

Volkswagen touch-up paint is simple and easy to use regardless of whether you use it as a touch-up paint pen, bottle and brush, or car spray paint. Follow the guidance below for the correct use of each.

Using the Volkswagen Touch-Up Paint Pen

Make sure your car’s paintwork is clean and dry. Mix your touch-up paint pen by shaking it for 60 seconds, then apply it to the scratch in thin layers. Some paint chips and scratches may only need one layer, whereas others may need several. If you apply more than one coat of paint, wait 10-25 minutes between coats for the paint to dry. After the last layer of paint, wait 24 hours for it to cure before adding polish or lacquer.

Using the Volkswagen Touch-Up Bottle & Brush

If you’re using the PaintNuts Volkswagen touch-up bottle and brush, you’ll need to check the touch-up area is free of rough areas. To do this, feel the touch-up area with your hand, and if needed, gently rub the area with sandpaper until smooth. You can also apply primer at this stage if needed.

Next, shake the touch-up bottle for 2-3 minutes to guarantee the paint is thoroughly mixed. Test the colour of the paint by applying a small amount to a piece of card or similar, and compare it to the original paintwork of your Volkswagen. If you’re happy with the colour match, apply the paint in thin, even coats. You should leave 10-15 minutes between each coat to allow the paint to dry. After the final paint coat, leave it to cure for 1 hour before polishing or adding lacquer.

Using the Volkswagen Touch-Up Aerosol

Before using the touch-up aerosol, make sure the surface of your paintwork is clean and smooth. As with the touch-up bottle & brush, you can do this by rubbing the area with sandpaper. Next, mix your Volkswagen spray paint aerosol by shaking the can for 2-3 minutes before spraying a small amount on a surface that’s not your car, such as a piece of card. Use this to compare the colour of the paint with your original paintwork. Then spray the touch-up paint from 25cm away in cross-coats. After each coat, wait 15 minutes to allow the paint to dry. You should apply as many coats as needed until the scratch or scuff is no longer visible.

After applying the final coat, you can apply lacquer if you want to. However, you should wait 24 hours after the final coat of touch-up paint before applying it to the paintwork. After the last layer of paint has been applied, clean the nozzle of the touch-up aerosol by spraying it upside-down.

How do I use a VW touch-up paint pen?

PaintNuts Volkswagen touch-up paint pen has been formulated to work perfectly on your VW. It’s simple, easy to use, and ideal for touching up car scratches. For a quick guide on how to use our Volkswagen paint pen, see the following steps:

  1. Shake the paint pen for at least 60 seconds to mix the paint.
  2. Ensure the working surface is clean, dry, and free of wax, polish and dust.
  3. Apply the touch-up paint in thin, light coats with smooth strokes. If you’re using a needlepoint paint pen, gently squeeze the paint into the scratch or chip.
  4. Allow the paint to dry for 10-25 minutes before applying a second coat if needed.
  5. After the final paint coat, let it cure for 24 hours before using a polishing compound like PaintNuts Scratch & Scuff Remover to blend in the repair.
