Mercedes E-Class over the years
First introduced to our roads in 1993, the Mercedes E-Class has seen a considerable evolution in terms of its styling and paint colours too. Originally coming to market with a boxy design that was the opposite of aerodynamic, the first-generation E-Class made up for its seemingly uninspiring design with impressive optionality elsewhere. For example, buyers had the option of several V8 engines and different body styles like sedan, convertible or estate. There were also good options for buyers choosing paint colours like Almandine Red, Blue Black and Emerald Green.
Lasting a very short period of time, the first generation Mercedes E-Class was soon replaced in 1994 with the second generation. This time with sleeker and more refined styling, the second-generation E-Class was a step closer to the shape we’re familiar with today. The Merc was also designed with more interior space than its predecessor, allowing for a more comfortable ride that could fit more items in the boot too. Not only that, but Mercedes gave the E-Class an update in the paint department, too, with new Mercedes paint colours like Polar White, Desert Silver, Obsidian Black and Aspen Green.
Launched in 2002, and continuing the E-Class, Mercedes released the third generation variant. Aiming at improving the E-Class even further, Mercedes gave buyers the option of a 5.5 litre V8 engine, making it even more powerful than previous generations. The same tradition of continuous improvement can be said for the fourth (released in 2009) and fifth (released in 2016) generations too, with each of these seeing even sleeker and more streamlined styling and hybrid power-chain options.
Presently, in 2024, we are on the sixth generation of the Mercedes E-Class. While with the previous generation, you had the option of a hybrid power chain or a petrol engine, with this generation only hybrid options are available. The limited choice stops there, however, with the Mercedes offering a variety of paint colour choices for the E-Class, such as Mojave Silver, Graphite Grey, Brilliant Blue and Rubellite Red.
