-
Directions for use
STEP ONE - MPEX Plastic Filler
Mixing ratio by weight Putty 100 parts Hardener 2 parts Stir thoroughly until achieving homogenous paste. Be careful not to create air inclusions. Layer thickness Putty can be applied in several thin coats. After each of them the product should dry through. Sand the coating before application of next coat. Pot life is 3 - 4 minutes at 20oC Hardening time 20 - 22 minutes at 20°C. Temperature below 20°C significantly increases the hardening time.
STEP TWO - Norton Top Coat Preparation Sanding Sheets
- Ensure primer is fully dry before sanding
- Using the 600 grit sheet sand the primed surface area, removing any defects and dirt particles – sand in one direction only to achieve an even scratch pattern.
- With the 800 grit paper Sand the full repair area to remove scratches from step 2, again sand in one direction for an even finish.
- With the 1000 grade paper sand the full repair area ensuring all scratches from step 3 are removed. Continue to sand in one direction.
- Fully degrease and wipe the repair area, ensuring the surface is free from dirt
Tip – for best results use the grits in sequence, apply even pressure when sanding and use a sanding block for an even finish, for use by hand and use dry.
STEP THREE - PaintNuts Primer Aerosol
Shake
Shake the aerosol thoroughly for at least two minutes, after the agitator ball is free to ensure the primer is mixed correctly.
Preparation
The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and dust is removed. If rust is present we suggest a rust treatment as well.
Application
Apply in cross coats from a distance of 25cm from the object, ensuring you only apply the primer witin the intended area. Leave the primer to dry for 10-25 minutes before applying a second coat if required. Leave the primer to cure 24 hours before applying the colour matched paint.
STEP FOUR - PaintNuts Colour Matched Aerosol
Prepare & Clean
Depending on your damage in most cases with an aerosol we would recommend using a Primer first.
1. Once you are ready to apply the paint start by flattening down the area using a wet and dry sandpaper to ensure any defects are diminished - we recommend the Norton Topcoat project pack.
The surface must be clean and dry - make sure all wax, polish and grease is removed. For best results use PaintNuts Panel Wipe spray and a Degreasing Cloth then a Sticky Tac Rag to remove any dust.
Shake & Test
- Shake aerosol for 2-3 minutes to ensure the paint within the can is mixed.
- Before applying the paint to the vehicle, we recommend testing the colour and which spray pattern you require, you can adjust the nozzle to spray horizontally or vertically.
On white card - check how many coats you require to match the original colour. Too few coats will look too light, too much paint/ too many coats will make the colour too dark.
Paint & Finish
- Either vertically or horizontally apply in smooth cross coats 250mm distance from the repair.
- Leave to dry for 15 minutes before applying a second coat if necessary and leave 4 hours before applying PaintNuts lacquer.
- After use turn the aerosol upside down to empty nozzle valve to clean then it can be reused at a later date.
PLEASE NOTE: – Aerosols should not be applied in cold, damp weather – it will adversely affect the application, finish, and drying time.
The recommended minimum temperature for using spray paint is 15+ degrees, preferably room temperature indoors in a warm and well-ventilated area.
STEP FIVE - PaintNuts Clear Lacquer AerosolPaintNuts Clear lacquer aerosol is specially developed to be used in conjunction with our colour matched paint, providing an extra gloss finish and a hard-durable protective layer.
The surface must be clean, dry, dust and grease free, minimum application temperature 15 degrees
- Shake the can vigorously until the agitator ball is free – 2 minutes.
- Apply in cross coats at a distance of 250mm from the object, with 3 - 5 min between coats.
- Drying time 10 - 25 minutes, fully cured time 24 hrs.
- After use turn the can upside down and spray until the valve is clean, preventing the valve from clogging up.
